Franz von Bayros

The Marquis Franz von Bayros (1866-1924) was a follower of Aubrey Beardsley and the Decadent movement. The Decadents flourished in the late 19th century, and tended to represent the macabre and morbid side of human emotion. These prints are post-card sized, with the printed area approx 3.5 x 2.5 inches. Condition is generally very good with some marginal defects (light indentations and staining).

I bought these from a small book dealer in London, who attributed them to Bayros. There are no stamps and no markings. They were nestled inside a secret rear cover of an 18th century racy book.
